Who is Edna Frimpong?
I am the Shoemakergirl
My name is Edna Frimpong, and I am known as the "Shoe Maker Girl", which is my brand identity. My expertise lies in the field of shoe making, and I hold a degree in Public Relations from Ghana Institute of Journalism, now recognized as the University of Media Arts and Communication.
As a woman, what encourages you to grow into such an important figure?
I believe I have something to offer.
I hold the belief that I have unique contributions to offer. My focus is on being true to myself, allowing God to be the center of all my endeavors.
Did you have a Rosey start? Did you just attain your achievements overnight?
I didnāt have a smooth beginning.
I initially worked as a programs coordinator for an NGO until I lost my job due to the impact of Covid.
Returning to my true passion, shoe making, brought me back to my roots.
My inspiration and skills were inherited from my father, who is also a skilled shoe maker.
Despite the familial connection, the journey wasnāt easy.
Working with family poses its challenges, requiring a delicate balance, discipline, and proper organization. Failure to manage these aspects can result in significant losses.
What kind of advice would you give to a woman starting out her business?
You canāt figure it all out, so start with what you have.
You may not have all the answers, so begin with what you currently possess.
Drawing inspiration from the question God posed to Moses about what he held in his hands ā perhaps a rod ā the message is to surrender what you have to God.
Even if it seems insignificant, entrust that small possession to God, allowing Him to bestow blessings upon it.
Simply engage in the task diligently and witness Godās increased presence in your life.
Please why did you choose shoe making out of the numerous works?
A woman into shoemaking would be nice.
As previously mentioned, my father possesses an innate talent for shoemaking, a skill bestowed upon him by God without formal training.
It occurred to me that learning this craft from him would be a valuable endeavor.
Iāve not only learned but also flourished alongside him.
Leaving such a precious legacy behind isnāt something I could consider.
Additionally, the thought crossed my mind that a woman venturing into the field of shoemaking could be a unique and positive endeavor.
Hence, I decided to tap into this opportunity.
You are very vibrant on LinkedIn. Why please?
At first, I didnāt know why I was on LinkedIn.
I initially joined LinkedIn for a school project, and somehow, I ended up being actively involved.
Despite not understanding why at first, I realized that LinkedIn is similar to other platforms I am already engaged with, such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
After posting my first content, the positive response from people encouraged me to consider building something meaningful on this platform.
Without a doubt, my defining moment occurred on LinkedIn, and I am sincerely grateful for the opportunities it has provided.
You are such an amazing inspiration to me and others. But what inspires you?
My Family is my source of Inspiration.
My family serves as my source of inspiration.
With numerous individuals looking up to me, there are moments when I sense that my efforts may not be sufficient.
This realization, however, motivates me to consistently take action.
I am aware that many peopleās destinies are connected to mine, and the prospect of failing not only affects me but also impacts them, and vice versa.
Is your work easy?
My work isnāt that difficult.
The nature of my work isnāt inherently challenging.
It becomes easy when you have the willingness to learn.
Anything can be learned and accomplished if you set your mind to it.
Making a shoe or a pair of slippers is achievable within a month.
